Chapter Twelve Summary

Stephanie leaves Stark Street but doesn't feel safe until she reaches Hamilton Avenue, which feels like home turf. Stephanie pulls into a parking lot at a convenience store to sit and think. Although she will file a police report, Stephanie isn't sure how the Trenton cops will respond to the assault charges against Ramirez. Flaunting herself on Stark Street after filing the first report isn't very smart. Still, Ramirez can't get away with hurting any more women. Stephanie calls one of the cops assigned to the case and leaves a message.

While backing out of the parking space at the convenience store, Stephanie runs into a truck. The truck sustains no damage but Morelli's Jeep looks like someone took a can opener to the rear fender. Stephanie decides that she'd be better off committing suicide than facing Morelli when he learns...
