Chapter Eight Summary

Stephanie encounters Morelli again. This time, the two face off in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant. Morelli tells Stephanie to stay away. Morelli asks about the Jeep. Stephanie tells Morelli that it was commandeered. Morelli says that he gives up and just wants to be left alone. Morelli, knowing that Stephanie plans to keep using the Jeep, tosses the keys into the dumpster behind the restaurant and takes off. Stephanie climbs into the dumpster and retrieves the keys. While rummaging through the trash, Stephanie finds a newspaper and the announcement that John Kuzak, one of the witnesses from Carmen Sanchez's building, is dead.
