Chapter 4, The Deutzia Month Summary

During the first few months of production on My American Wife!, Jane began having a love affair via the telephone and fax machine with a musician from Chicago. These phone calls were often ardent. When Sloan makes a surprise appearance in Nebraska, he and Jane spend a long, passionate night in her hotel room. When Jane wakes the following morning, she slips out of the hotel room to go to work. Upon her return, Sloan is gone. However, he promises to see her again. Jane worries briefly that Sloan's frequent arrivals at the cities where she is working will cause trouble, but the crew does not seem to notice how often Sloan appears.
