In Chapter 2, Akiko Ueno sits in front of the television watching the first episode of the new show, My American Wife! Akiko's husband has asked her to watch the shows, cook the recipes, and then fill out a questionnaire about them. This came about the same time when Akiko's periods had stopped coming because she was too thin for her body to sustain them.
