Summary

Seven Years Earlier, Lore’s parents return from the Agon one day early. Lore thinks how she only has to wait one more cycle to prove herself and save Castor, but is devastated when they tell her that they will no longer hunt. She is horrified at the thought of losing their honor as her father says Aristos claimed Ares’s power and Lore imagines killing him. She says she will hate them for being cowards and leaves, but she overhears them talking about how Aristos will come after them and the aegis. Lore thinks that they were meant to obtain kleos through the Agon and sneaks out of the house.
