Summary

The novel starts with a proclamation by Zeus that Nine gods have betrayed him and will walk the earth every seven years for seven days. He says he will reward those who best the gods in battle with godhood.

In the Prologue, a god of conflict wakes up in the body of a mortal after seven years. He decides this will be the last time even though the old gods have experienced the transformation 212 times. He remembers being a powerful individual in Manhattan during his mortal life and wants to take control again. As members of his bloodline, the House of Kadmos, arrive, it is revealed that the god’s predecessor was Ares, the god of war.
