Chapter 8 Summary

In chapter eight, Olivia picks up her friend Laney who has hurt herself running. Ruby asks to be dropped at a clearing near Jackson. Olivia is skeptical but gives in. She finds Peyton's friend Aaron there and expects to find Peyton. Aaron has liquor and they share a bottle of vodka and some marijuana. Ruby becomes very drunk and when Peyton doesn't appear, she decides to walk through a path to Marshall's house. Marshall's roommate, Rogerson, answers the door. Ruby says she needs to see Marshall and heads down the hall to his room. She finds Peyton and Marshall on the bed together. Marshall's reaction indicates he doesn't care that Ruby saw. Peyton jumps up and chases Ruby. Peyton says that Ruby always insisted Marshall wasn't her boyfriend and she shouldn't be surprised at this situation. She also says she'd tried to tell...
