Part 5, Chapter 33 Summary

As the men go out to work the next morning, Claire stays with Jenny and helps her with her mending. They talk about Jamie and Ian growing up together and how Jamie is left-handed and was always taught it was a bad thing. Claire notices that wee Jamie is also left-handed. Jenny hopes he doesn't have to go through what his uncle went through in school. The teacher would scold Jamie and make him write with his right hand.

It grows late and Jenny wonders if it will snow. Claire says it will hinder Jamie and Ian's travel home if it snows. Jenny tells Claire that the men will more than likely sleep in someone's cottage overnight. The ladies get the children ready and head to bed for the night.
