Summary

In Chapter 27, two days have passed. Maverick has a gun and prepares to kill Red. He has planned carefully, including wearing a gray bandana on his face. He plans to go to the cemetery afterward, throwing his hoodie and gun in a lake. After that, “I'll go home and go on with my life” (321). Despite the careful plan, he is shaking. He considers calling Lisa but fears she will note something wrong in his voice. Moe and Faye agree to watch Seven. Maverick says he is taking Lisa some food. He describes the sights and sounds of the neighborhood as he walks. He arrives at the park and sees Red loading up the merchandise he sells from the trunk of his car.
