Summary

In Chapter 18, Dre's death creates a damper on Thanksgiving for Maverick. The extended family gathers but some of the traditions – such as football in the backyard – are changed without Dre. Maverick is hurt because of Lisa's comments. Seven holds onto Maverick. Maverick's Granny makes extra dressing because she knows Maverick loves it. Faye tells Granny that Maverick is about to become a father to another child which garners a lot of interest. King usually attends the family gatherings at holidays. When he arrives, he has Iesha with him. Maverick still considers King his best friend and is upset that he and Iesha are together. Faye takes Iesha and Maverick into a bedroom and berates Iesha for not at least checking in on Seven. Faye says she knows Iesha has not had her mother's support, but says it is time for her to step...
