Summary

In Chapter 4, Iesha tells Maverick she needs a break but hangs up without saying how long. Faye suggests they call a cousin who is an attorney, saying they need to plan for the long term. Maverick hopes Iesha will only need a few days. He understands why Iesha needs the break after having the baby for only a couple of days. Faye goes to work on Monday. Maverick's father, Adonis, calls from prison. Adonis asks about Faye. Faye has a close friend name Moe (a woman). Maverick tells Adonis that Moe convinced Faye to stop working weekends. Maverick reveals the DNA results. Adonis assures Maverick he is going to be alright, though he warns it "won't be easy" (44). Adonis says Maverick needs to change the baby's name, saying "your son oughta have something of his own" (45). Maverick realizes this is a serious decision...
