Chapter 16 Summary

"Dinner and a Show"

Tully joins Cleopatra and the oarsmen on the dinghy and head out to the boat. A young boy pounds out rhythm on a turtle shell as the oarsmen row in cadence. They drop anchor near the boat and Cleopatra tells Tully that the schooner was used in the film Captains Courageous. Tully is in disbelief and Cleopatra continues, "Son, I am one hundred and one years old. I don't have time to bullshit you" (pg. 156). Tully heads up the ladder and Cleopatra follows.

On board, Tully meets Captain Solomon and the rest of the crew. Some of the crew are maritime college kids and the remainder of the crew is from Belize. Solomon takes Tully to the guest cabin where Tully finds clothes to change in to; now he's dressed like the rest of the crew. When he comes...
