Chapters 32-34 Summary

In Chapter 32, the creatures are holding a feast in honor of Cregga, who continues to grow weak. The feast is well underway when Cregga silences the crowd. She tells them that she was made caretaker of the Abbey when Abbess Song chose her, but did not become the Abbess herself, waiting for the right creature to come along who seemed right for the job. She announces that she has made her choice of Mhera for the new leader of Redwall. The creatures heartily agree. Cregga asks Boorab to play a lively song, and while he does, Mhera, holding Cregga's hand, feels he slip away and die. She does not tell the others until after the feast is over.
