Chapter 17 "The Conscious Little Rock" Summary

Standing in the entryway of Saint Ray house, Charlotte is feeling guilty about the way she treated Adam and awed at the prospect of seeing Hoyt. She is unsure why she lied to Adam about her jeans not being new. She still can't believe that she spent $80 on a pair of jeans. She had only $320 for the rest of the semester and she had spent $80 on a pair of jeans just so she could thank Hoyt. She admits to herself that the main reason she didn't want Adam to come in was because she didn't want Hoyt to see her with a dork.

Hoyt comes out to meet her and he looks awful. She blurts out that she just came to thank him. He invites to come.....
