Part 6, Chapter 38 Summary

At Holyrood and the Canongate, Claire walks the grounds a lot. She visits Mr. Haugh's shop. It is nothing like Raymond's shop, but it will have to due in order for her to replenish her supplies. Jamie is very ill with a runny nose and fever. Claire asks Charles if she may take him home and put him to bed, which he obliges. Jamie is grateful for Claire taking him away, for he's growing tired of Charles. Fergus has a fever too, so Claire demands that they both rest and rubs them with goose grease.

Claire gets them both into bed. Later she has some hot tea with brandy. A knock at the door startles her. She opens it to find Jack Randall standing there. She spills her tea in shock. He takes her by the arm and leads her down...
