Part 4, Chapter 26 Summary

Finally Claire is removed from the hospital by Louise and taken to Fontainebleau (Louise's establishment). The carriage ride is long, especially having to listen to Louise's ranting all the way. Jamie hasn't been to see Claire. He hadn't even visited her in the hospital. She thinks that he's already left for his most recent trip to Orvieto.

Fergus accompanies Claire to Fontainebleau, but is apparently very sad at not having Jamie there with them. She tells Fergus to take a bath one day and he runs away. Claire chases him and as she's reaching into a shed to pull him out she discovers the Reverend Walter Laurent of Geneva. He's frightened of her and she's frightened of him.
