Part 3, Chapter 21 Summary

Claire and Jamie are invited to the Duke's home the next day. Jamie is there on business, and Claire finds entertainment in looking at his artwork. She intends to find Alex and arrange a meeting for him and Mary. Instead, she finds Mary snooping around, trying to find Alex herself. They are both approached by a footman who tells them Alex has left for England. He is no longer employed by the Duke.

Mary screams in sadness and runs away. Claire follows her. She runs around a corner and Claire runs smack into Jonathan Randall. She is shocked beyond belief to find him still alive.
