Part 3, Chapter 19 Summary

The men are all up in arms about Mary. They yell and fight with one another. Hawkins blames Jamie and calls Claire a whore. Jamie does not take lightly to this and punches him in the face, knocking him out. Finally, the Court Captain demands that they all go to the local jail and sort this whole thing out. Claire is told not to leave town, but is excused from accompanying them there.

Fergus takes on the role of caregiver to Claire until Jamie's return. He checks the house and makes sure it's all locked up, then settles in by the fire with Claire.
