Part 2, Chapter 6 Summary

Claire reverts back in time to when she was first pregnant and in Paris with Jamie. She feels morning sickness and Jamie is very attentive to her needs by feeding her bread. Jamie is working as a translator for James Francis Edward Stuart, the exiled king of Scotland. The king (James) tells Jamie that he has heard that Prince Charles Edwards has left Rome and will arrive in France within a few weeks. He is not sure if the prince is coming at Louis's invitation or if he has come uninvited. James tells Jamie that they (Jamie and Claire) would need to travel and find out what his intentions are. Jamie agrees. Claire knows that in 1744 Charles is beginning his search for support in France. She knows that in 1745 in Culloden, Prince Charles would be defeated.
