Chapter 27 Summary

"One Thousand One…One Thousand Two"

Tully takes a siesta and dreams of a giant marlin floating in the air. The fish's head is sticking out of a condo window and speaking like Hal from 2001: A Space Odyssey. The fish tells him that unless he wakes up he won't be able to fish that afternoon.

Tully wakes to the sounds of Eric Clapton and goes to take a shower. While in the shower he feels a sharp pain in his left foot; he feels the pain again. He gropes around the shower fearing that he's been bitten by a snake or spider. Angry, he grabs the .38 revolver that he keeps in his pack. He hears giggling from under the crawl space under the bungalow and he orders whomever it is to come out.
