"The Soul of the Light - Tully Mars, Checking In"

A Salty Piece of Land begins as Tully Mars reminisces about wanting to be Roy Rogers as a child and how the life of rescuing people, looking perfect in blue jeans, and nights beside a campfire seemed like the perfect job. When Tully races his horse and falls, though, he realizes that life is not like it seems in a movie. Instead of Roy Rogers, Tully takes to Butch Cassidy as his new hero because Cassidy is not perfect.

Tully left his home in Wyoming a couple years earlier, after he tossed a massage table through the window of Thelma Barston's ranch. Thelma is Tully's boss at the poodle ranch in Wyoming.
