Summary

In Part One, “Home,” “Imaginary Photographs,” 38-year-old Marnie Walsh scrolls through her old photographs and reflects on her life. The photos do not feature people as they once did. Marnie lives alone in Herne Hill, London and has not kept up with her friends and family. She works from home as a copy-editor and has rarely seen anyone since she and her ex-husband Neil split up. She wishes she could change, realizing her loneliness is a trap, but does not know how (6).
