Part Three, The Wilderness: Chapters 31-33 Summary

The next morning Sean wakes to a splitting headache. Katrina's mood has not softened and she asks him if he is coming to church. Sean declines but she is determined to go, and takes Dirk with her. When the knock comes on the door, Sean yells come in, surprised to see Candy. He tells her she has to leave because his wife would never understand her in the room, but Candy tells him that one of her people is watching her. She sits down, and promising not to cry asks how Duff died. Sean does not want to tell her but finally relents. They talk for some time, catching up until Sean notices the time and tells Candy she has to leave before Katrina gets back.
