Part 1, Natal: Chapters 19-21 Summary

Garrick's comes out of it to a cheerful voice that welcomes him back. The doctor looks at Garry and tells him he is being sent home the following day and that he has been put in for the Victoria cross. Garry, still confused, asks if there was fighting. The man beside him assures him there was. He asks about Sean and his father, and apologizing, the doctor tells him they are dead. Garry remembers seeing the messenger. On sentry duty as the rider approaches, he sees that the man is injured and bleeding.
