Medications
Bo’s rheumatism medications demonstrate his unwillingness to submit to the realities of aging. The doctor insists that he has to go off of these medications because it is not safe to take them with heart medications, and he needs the heart medications to keep on living. Bo agrees that he needs the heart medication, but he gets angry with Hans for not insisting that there is another option. This demonstrates his frustration with the options presented to him and the physical realities of aging, and it also demonstrates how he at times blames Hans for the reality of his situation.
