Summary
Bo considers cutting his son, Hans, out of his will because the latter wants to take his dog, Sixten, away from him. Ingrid, one of Bo’s caretakers, tells Bo he will do what she can to make sure that this does not happen. Hans also does not want his father to use the stove anymore, and Ingrid tells Bo that Hans is just worried about him. Ture, Bo’s friend, has been dealing with caretakers even longer than Bo has because Ture’s doctor ordered them when he became concerned about Ture, and “soon [Ture] found himself with people running about the house every few hours” (60).
Bo’s thoughts are narrated to his wife, Frederika. She had to move into a memory care facility three years ago. He believes she wanted to stay with him, but he also knows...
