Point of View

The novel is written in first person from two limited perspectives. Adalyn is the first narrator to take control of the story. She remains in control for the first two chapters before Cameron becomes the narrator. Both Cameron and Adalyn are adults who seem willing to be honest about what they see, hear, and experience, but both have some limitations that affect their ability to be a reliable narrator. One of those is that Adalyn is intent on taking responsibility for situations that are not her fault. Her father is the main source of these situations. Adalyn is hurt that her father does not stand up for her during the public relations fiasco in Miami, but she asserts that the situation was her fault.
