The Outside World

The outside world is a specter that all the students inside the Scholomance dream of desperately. Once freshmen are inducted into the school, they cannot go back to the real world unless they graduate. The school is connected to the real world through a small gate, but it exists in a void that has no other relationship to the real world. Mals constantly find ways to enter the school from the world through the gate, even though it has gates and magical wards. During graduation and induction, momentary portals open up all over the world so students can be zapped in and out. When El and her friends put their plan into action, they call in mals from the portals all over the world.
