Part Three, A Puzzle in a Puzzle: Chapters 53-59 Summary

Joanna and Alex rent a car and quickly shake their tail. Once again Alex feels that it was too easy to get rid of their shadow but puts his concerns aside to concentrate on their next move. Alex drives to a shopping center where he steals the license plates off another car. Alex then goes into a residential area where he steals a car and changes the plates on the stolen car with the tags he took from the shopping center, hoping this will cover their movement long enough for he and Joanna to get out of England. Outside of Brighton, Alex and Joanna stop at an inn called The Bell and The Dragon. Alex talks about the inn as though he has been there often, but...
