Part Two, Clues: Chapter 36-41 Summary

Inamura has gotten a copy of The Demolished Man and uses it to give Joanna an answering sentence to overcome the posthypnotic suggestion that has blocked her answers to Inamura's questions. Joanna tells Inamura what she sees outside the window and continues describing the room. Joanna tells Inamura that a woman has come into the room and given her a drug. Joanna describes the effects of the drugs and the fear that fills her when a man comes into the room. The man is called Herr Doktor by the woman, and he is the man from Joanna's dreams with the mechanical hand.
