Part One, Joanna: Chapters 25-31 Summary

Wayne's doctor comes and tells Alex they were able to save his leg. Mariko joins Alex a few minutes later, having come to sit with Wayne while Alex goes to see Joanna. Alex instructs Mariko to tell Wayne not to tell the police about the man attempting to steal the Chelgrin file. Alex then goes to Joanna's where they begin going through the Chelgrin file after dinner. Joanna is fascinated with the uncanny resemblance between herself and Lisa Chelgrin, especially when she compares the photos in the file with photos of herself from twelve years ago. As they look at the photos, Joanna begins to have a panic attack. The room appears to be growing smaller.
