Summary

In Chapter 19 the narrator describes Jeri’s opinion of Bannick’s outlook on his crimes. She thought that he believed he would never be caught. He committed the murders for revenge, but also loved the gamesmanship of what he was doing. He challenged himself to commit perfect murders. She believed he became more confident each time he was not caught.

Because Jeri wanted Bannick to be afraid, she wrote him a letter informing him that the BJC was investigating him as a suspect in Verno, Dunwoody, and Kronke’s murders. She wore gloves and used an out-of-date word processor so he would not be able to identify her. Jeri worried it was wrong to expose Lacy, but at the same time thought Lacy was tough enough to take care of herself. Jeri also composed a poem written from Eileen’s point of view...
