Summary

In Chapter 6, the weather is clearing the next morning. When Cricket wakes, the side that has been next to Blue all night is warm, but her other side is cold and damp. Cricket puts on her glasses, looks at Blue, Swordtail, and Sundew, then examines her surroundings. They are in the “lowlier” section of the Glitterbazaar, which is outside the main Hive. Cricket and Sundew do their usual morning exercises together, then Sundew wakes Swordtail, laughing at his “yelp.” Cricket finds a stall with accessories for sale. Blue creates a strand of flamesilk to help them see inside the dim stall. Cricket begins to provide capes, jewelry, scarves, and other items meant to help disguise them. Sundew wants duller colors but Cricket says they will stand out unless they are wearing brilliant colors with lots of accessories. Blue questions whether SilkWings could afford...
