Summary
Camp counselor Louise wakes up to find Barbara’s bunk empty in August 1975. Louise’s cabin has a 17-year-old counselor-in-training along with a number of 13-year-old girls. Louise was not in the cabin last night, having gone out. She assumed the counselor in training, Anabelle, would have been there, but now she wonders if that was the case. Anabelle went out drinking last night and does not know where Barbara is either. Louise goes over to the girls and asks them where Louise is.
Two Months Earlier, June 1975: Tracy thinks about how desperate she would have to be to sit in the woods and scream if she got lost, but this is the advice the counselors give to the campers as Camp Emerson opens for the season.
