It was in the Royal home in Wichita, Kansas that Gina raised her children and cared for her family while her husband was killing women in the garage. After Melvin was convicted of his crimes, the house was purchased by someone who burned it to the ground. A park dedicated to Melvin’s victims was built on the site.

It was in the garage of his family home that Melvin brought his female victims to torture and kill them. Even though the garage was so close to the house, Gina did not hear anything because Melvin cut his victim’s vocal cords so they could not scream. She believed that he spent so much time in the garage doing woodworking. He told her that he wanted the garage kept padlocked because his tools were so expensive.
