Summary

In Chapter 12, Prester puts together a timeline with the help of Sam, Kez, and Gwen. She wonders where the red star, representing the time when her children were taken, will be placed on it. Prester asks Gwen to go through the events of the day one more time starting with the time Kez left after breakfast. Because Gwen knows that Prester is somehow blaming her, she tells him that she has a list of suspects he can go through and that he should also talk to Melvin. She believes that he has people helping him from inside the prison. Prester replies that it appears Melvin is on a short leash but they are checking out the phone call she got from him as well as the false officer down report and the attempt on Sam’s life.
