Chapters 7-9 Summary

Chapter 7. Toila. When they arrive in Toila, Drina and Plain Kate immediately set off together to sell Plain Kate's objarka in the appropriate market. Drina and Taggle dance, drawing a crowd to Plain Kate's objarka. Then Drina goes off in search of answers for Plain Kate's problems. At first Plain Kate struggles to sell the rest of her goods, but soon they begin to sell well. Then a guard comes up to Plain Kate and tells her they do not like witches and she should go. Plain Kate rushes away in search of Drina. When Plain Kate finds Drina, she finds her being attacked by a mob, her hair shorn off and her ear nearly amputated. Plain Kate and Taggle manage to create enough of a distraction to get Drina away from the man with the knife. Plain Kate then sacrifices...
