Part 5, Chapter 30 Summary

The next evening after dinner Claire sits next to Jenny and watches her sew a garment for the unborn baby. Jenny places Claire's hand on her belly so she can feel the baby kick. Jamie comes over later and asks how it feels to have something growing inside of her. She tries to explain as best she can, considering he is a man. Jamie begins to rub her feet as she explains to Claire what it is like to have a child inside her belly. They all listen intently, Jamie, Ian and Claire as Jenny talks about how her skin feels things and her belly swells with a kicking child inside. Toward the end Jenny looks squarely at Ian and she speaks of her body being sensitive to every touch. Ian and Jenny go to bed and leave Claire and Jamie...
