Part 3, Chapter 23 Summary

They catch up with the other men and Dougal is waiting for them. He tells Claire she can go to the room, which she is thankful for. Jamie and Dougal tie up the horses and Jamie comes up later. Claire wakes up in the middle of her sleep, startles Jamie and asks him about Horrocks. Jamie tells her that the meeting went well, and that the information he received was that Randall actually killed the sergeant general, for which Jamie is being blamed. It will certainly be hard to prove his innocence, considering Randall did it. As they sit on the bed together, they contemplate their options for the future (stay in Scotland, travel to France or even America, and so on). Jamie prefers to stay in Scotland, clear his name and live on his own land.
