Point of View

The novel is written from the first person point of view of the protagonist, Melody Brooks. Melody is a middle grade girl with cerebral palsy, and the novel centers around her trip to London where she learns that she can overcome her fears by speaking in public. There she also learns that she has a lot to offer the world.

Both of these two realizations of hers come from her internalizing situations that she is presented with. The first is that she is able to get help for Miss Gertie when the woman falls and the second is that she is able to come up with a unique idea at the I.D.E.A. symposium.
