Summary
Melody walks up to a podium where she thanks the people she loves, and she dances on stage before waking up and realizing that she is sitting in her bedroom waiting for her mother to come get her.
Melody looks outside her bedroom window as a storm threatens in Chapter 2. The storm reminds her of the camp she went to. Summer vacation is nearing its end. Melody loves words and has “a lot to say” (6).
In Chapter 3 Melody considers her superpower to be words because she uses words to get everything that she needs. She uses a medical device to speak for her that she has named Elvira. This device changed her life because before it, she could not communicate any of the thoughts that went through her mind. The only thing she does not like is the sound of the device...
