Point of View

The novel is written from a limited perspective. Because this is a graphic novel, images make up the majority of the action. The characters speak in first person, but the reader sees the entire situation but does not know what any of the characters are thinking unless they make comments about that. The reader follows the actions of one character or group of characters at a time. For example, there is a scene in which Naomi is talking to two of her siblings. The reader has no idea what any of the other 18 frogs are doing at that time.

During that scene, Flippy feels happy that the three are demonstrating kindness and compassion. He then hears them make plans to spit water on the others the following day. This demonstrates that Flippy has a limited perspective of the situation. The reader has those same limitations...
