Buckeye City, Ohio

Much of the novel takes place in Buckeye City. This is where Izzy works in the police department.

Dingley Park

The Guns and Hoses game is held at Dingley Park. Izzy spends time practicing here, and she and Holly frequently have lunch together at the park. It is also here that Sista Bessie sings the National Anthem before she has to run to save Barbara.

Hockey Rink

The climax of the novel occurs at the hockey rink. Trig chooses this location because it is where he learned his mother was gone, and it is here where he plans to end his life by shooting the surrogate jurors and setting the place on fire before killing himself. It is also here where he stores one of the dead bodies and where Chris goes to hide out as he prepares to kill Kate.
