Summary

In Chapter Five, a plague swept through the land when Marra was 30. Marra received a letter telling her that the sickness had taken her niece, Virian. Marra travelled to the Northern Kingdom to grieve with her sister. When she arrived, she found that Kania was pregnant again. At dinner, the prince snapped at Kania and told her to clean herself up because she looked terrible. Kania announced that she wanted to stand vigil for her daughter with Marra overnight since she was a nun. Although Marra was not technically a nun, she did not contradict her sister. The prince’s father agreed that this would be a good idea. The prince was furious, but he agreed with his father.
