Chapter 5: Two Girls Together and Chapter 6: Augustus and Phoebe Summary

The trip to Florida is about eight hundred miles and Grace's mother believes they can do it easily in two days. They talk a great deal, and Grace learns things about her mother that she never knew before. On the second day, they decide to stop for the night instead of pushing straight through, having an early breakfast, and talking about the future. Dallas greets them enthusiastically when they get there, and assures them they will love Florida in no time. Dallas takes them to a condo that she has already stocked with everything from bedding to cleaning supplies and both Grace and Jackie are surprised and pleased.
