Chapter 11 Summary

Lauren dresses in one of the fancy dresses Philip's previous tenant left behind in the condo for the executive's meeting she is to attend with Jim. Jim picks her up and assures her she looks perfect. Lauren is nervous because she does not want to see Nick again or to allow him to see how much he hurt her. Lauren acts cool throughout the party, pretending that being in the same room with Nick does not bother her. Lauren is jealous that Nick is there with Ericka Moran, the same woman who joined him at Harbor Springs after Lauren left. Lauren's jealousy relaxes some, however, when she notices Jim's reaction to Ericka. Jim clearly is in love with Ericka.

During the party, Lauren slips outside to get some fresh air. Lauren hears someone come up behind her and believes it to be Jim...
