Chapter 4 Summary

Lauren goes to the interview where she meets Jim Williams, a stern but kind executive at Sinco. Jim likes Lauren immediately and offers the job, which Lauren decides to take despite her earlier decision to not work for Sinco because she wants to be close to Nick. On her way out, Lauren runs into Nick and offers to take him to lunch to celebrate. Nick takes Lauren to a restaurant called Tony's that is owned by a family friend. Tony is a kind man who immediately befriends Lauren when he learns that she is half-Italian. Tony insists that a young woman like Lauren needs family in a big city like Detroit and offers to be that family for her.
