Part IV, Chapter 4 Summary

Johnny, relying on his skill as a pitcher in college, throws the hammer at the wolf. He knows as soon as the hammer leaves his hand that the pitch is wild, but amazingly, it hits the wolf in just the right spot between the eyes and kills it.

David shows up a moment later, gives Johnny his wallet back and asks him to stay in help. David turns on his most persuasive voice, telling Johnny about the dream, and that he thinks Johnny's spirit died back in 1966 or 1967, when he was in VietNam.
