Part IV, Chapter 1 Summary

David awakens and tells the group that Ellen is dead, Mary is still alive, and they cannot leave town, they must go to China Pit and fight Tak.

Ralph believes David, and prepares to leave. Cynthia convinces Steve to listen to David as well, and the group moves from the theater outside. Steve and Cynthia go to get the Ryder truck, and notice that the vultures, coyotes and other creatures have disappeared. The weather has even changed. As the group gathers around the truck and prepares to head for the mine, David continues to tell them what the guide says. Johnny is saying they need to get away from this place, not endanger themselves worse by going to the mine, but David asks that Johnny listen to what he has been told by God before Johnny makes any decisions...
