Summary

In Chapter 56, Gem leads the way into the corridor opening from the lake into the base. When two LI students enter the other end, Gem fires and the LI guards fall. Ana is horrified, thinking Gem killed them. Gem chastises her for cursing. She then discovers Gem has shot both of them in the head with rubber bullets, knocking them out. They check out the security cameras and see the LI students have taken a lot of the tech from the base. They see the hostages in the dining room and begin trying to come up with a way to save them. Just then, the “Pilot Bug” drone emerges from the vent followed by others. They use a couple of the bugs to take an alt-tech device into the dining room, instructing them to drop the device and fly quickly away.
